Took her apart for pics, and didn't put grip screws back in because I obviously have some cleanup to do tonight.....Found at Irving Gun Show today.....
Boy, thats just got a nice look about it ! What year is it Jeff pretty early number. Nice.
And a coat of Fleet Farms best black tractor paint.
very nice pm in bound
verrrrrry sweet!
I have a real soft spot for the 1911. Just think of all the 1911's the govt cut up or dumped overboard. Now many fighting units are scrounging to get a 1911. The old warhorse never gets old. Give me a 45 over a 9mm any day of the week.
Oh MAN that's a sexy weapon! I love the wear on it.
Shuff! We need a drooling smiley!
Woowee, that is a cool pistol. A new sickness - from IHCs to 1911s,
Love it..!
That is a very nice Handgun!
Nice one Jeff! How much? Dave
I overpaid, but I wanted it.....$1600.....(guy started at $1750) Went through the whole dang show, not a single WWI or WWII .45.....beginning of the last row, there it sat....I passed on it originally, was going to leave.....my wife suggested one more look......so I went back, checked all the small details, and asked his bottom dollar......He said 16, so I whipped it out......
They are really starting to dry up! Not overpaid! Nice and original.
THANKS DAVE- I appreciate your opinion, as you've bought and sold a "few" lately......
Thank you too, Gunner....I DID get a story, but only after I bought it.....
Honest to gosh,.....
I handed the 16 bills over, and the guy(who is there with his wife...they're 70 if they're a day over 20) says, "O.K., since we settled up, here's the story". I started cracking up, saying my buddies would kill me if I bought the story, not the gun, but here it is ......
Turns out, his wife had an uncle who ran a convenience store back in the 50-60's in downtown Dallas.......some "wine afficionado" came in a traded it for two $4 bottles of ripple!!! I quickly offered to take back my money and go locate aBUNCH of "ripple", but he was more than happy with the $$$$.....and that is the truth, so help me GOD!!!!!
As far as finish, it'll stay the way it is, although I have gently scrubbed and oiled her up a bit.......
I love it. I too don't think you over paid. I would have happily forked over $16 for it as well. Congrats.
A real nice 1911. I checked one out at a gun show here and and the price was very high and the gun looked like it had parts from every variation of the 1911/1911A1. I did not even try to negotiate on it as a restoration was way more than I wanted to get into. Another offered for sale in "original" condition had a beaver tale grip safety! Enjoy your good luck as those 1911s are very hard to come by in such good condition.

Shes a beauty, and buy the way Jeff, you can stop pulling my leg about the 45s LOL. I have a lot of rifles to sell first. I should be shot for this but here goes. I was at a gun show about 5 years ago and I picked up a M1D first thing and then run across a neat 03 that I had to have. So I just spent a lot of money and was done spending. I old friend offers me a Colt 1911A1 that was carried in WWII by his neighbor for 850. I just could not do it and passed walked a few tables and looked at Remington 03 . The numbers stood out on the 03 because lots of zeros, 3000262 for 600.00 I walked away. As soon as I left I went to dads house jsut down the road and bummed 1500.00 bucks and run back and they were gone this was less that an hour. I looked the Remington up on the Springfield site and saw two numbers away was used as a test rifle having peep sights added . this one had the peep sights also. my friend scuffed at it for not being right. I believe it was after seeing that. I think I made two bad decision that day. LOL.
Good luck with the 45s
Ripple! OMG how cheap can one be.
I will bid 4 bottles of Boones Farm Strawberry Hill, food stamps and a pack of Kools.
very nice- I like them with some wear- not the 98% minty gun that just sat in a rack in the arms room or in the holster of a high ranking officer. I hope to find something similar one day
