For those Who have been keeping track of the flood.

I'm just updating You guys on Roundup's status.The flood waters have receeded,Levee's were fixed and We can leave town in all directions now.There are still People isolated out of town because it took out most bridges.We are getting Our mail,groceries and supplies now as normal.I thank the Catholic Church for the help with feeding the People who were stranded,The Church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints for the flood kits,and all the cleanup help,the other Churches for shelters,the City workers,and The National guard for all the Help.Our Home was never flooded,but close,My Grandma lost Her garage contents and still can't stay home.Here are some pics of Grandma's,the water was at the top of the Lawn tractor above the headlights!

Thats jsut a shame , I am sorry for the damage to your grandmas stuff,yes it could be worse but all the same its just to bad. Tpm

Ryan, I'm glad you and your family are safe and other than your grandmother's garage unharmed. What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger. What lessons did you learn from this? Will you make any precautions for another natural disaster?
I'd just like to learn from your experiences.

IThink the biggest thing is to store Water!I always keep cases in My basement for just such things.The stores quickly ran out of water as well as bread.Keep water purification tablets on hand,and hand sanitizers,and baby wipes.Toilet Paper goes fast too,so keep lots on Hand.I was actually amazed at How fast beer disapears,so if You are a drinker it pays to store it up.Luckily I have always been paranoid and was ready,but could have easily been without over extended periods.

I think the lessons I have learned would be to keep clothes stored for emergency in plastic,and also keep photo albums in plastic locking tubs.My grandma was able to save lots of pictures,quilts,and heirlooms because they were in plastic tubs and floated.I have also learned that no matter how prepaired You think You are,it is still not enough for extended periods...oh yeah,I also learned that natural disasters can bring out the best in People,but also the worst s We had looters from out of Town in Boats.I was armed to protect My family though.

The law should allow for the immediate shooting of looters on sight. We lived through the tail end of the hurricane Ike three years ago and were without power for 6 days. I'm still storing things and preparing;generator, beer, tp, gasoline, food and a rifle/pistol for home security. Now that the flood is over I'll send your parts this week.

Ryan, I am glad to hear the family came through this safe. I hate to see the damage to your Grandmothers garage though, its tough loosing family treasure this way. On the plus side it appears that the 'common folk' did allot more for the town of Roundup then our gubment saviors.

Glad everyone is OK. Most stuff can be replaced, Grandmas however are not as easy.
