She was built on a Breda receiver with a Breda bolt and a Krieger barrel. But I can't latch the trigger group shut. Any ideas?

You gotta muscle up and shut it. You finally have a stock that isnt compressed and a trigger guard with good lugs
Run the aperture all the way down, flip the rifle over on carpeted floor, padded table etc. put a dab of grease on each of the trigger guard lugs, man up and lean on the guard, it will close. You can also use a rubber mallet
I leaned on the guard---heavily. But it would not budge. I also greased the lugs. I am at a loss
leaning won't help. grab a rubber mallet and smack it. Looking at your pic, it's not so far out that you should have to remove any wood. This is pretty much what all new stocks are like (at least the 200 or so I've worked)
I tried a mallet, but to no avail.
Did you do as I suggested? You need to flip it over and a sturdy surface, press down and back towards the back of rifle. There is absolutly no reason why it shouldnt close .
People post this problem frequintly, they are used to a stock with tight lock up
The only thing I can think of is if the bevels arent cut on each side and are keeping the gaurd from closing. Can you see where the gaurd is making contact on the inside of the stock anywhere?
If not flip it over and press HARD
I followed Sean's latest advice and it worked! I now have the most beautiful Garand of all time.
