    Interesting Stock

I finally got around to wiping off years of dirt and grime off this old stock. It doesnt have any real value , cartouche is sanded , and a crack through the wrist. It does appears to be a long channel SA/GHS
With the names carved in the sides makes you wonder where its been and what happened to "Bill" and"Pat" . Its also a Barnwood stock so it does have that history behind it to.
    Makes it a interesting stock

    Interesting.
It could have been some soldiers kids, or just some kids years later that carved their names in an old stock when they were playing war.

I dont think this is probable, this is one of the "Barnwood" stocks

Bill could be Billy Jean, Pat can be Patricia, the possibilities are endless. Then again Bill and Pat could be gay, and now happily married thanks to the SCOTUS.

    Wow,That's a neat article.
I had never seen that before and just always assumed 'barn wood' was a junk stock.
Sounds like that is an original 'trench art' stock that probably got swapped out in a post war rebuild. I can't see that kind of marking going over very well in a post war garrison setting.

I'm going with the gay thing too.
