I have always like the looks of the old A1's. Light and handy little carbine.
OOOHHH, an M16A1. I qualified on one back in 1983. We transitionel to A2's in 1985, but I've always liked the way the A1's looked.
A local reenactor group is trying to get together enough guys to do some Veitnam living history displays and I'm torn between buying an M14/M1a1 or the M16/AR15. I have all of the gear for both Marine and Army impressions, but sold off my M14 and AR-15 SP1 years ago to fund additional FAL builds. A pretty dumbass move now that I look back on it.
