Newb Mini G questions.
Hello all, I have a barreled receiver (308) that I’m collecting parts for to be sent in for the Mini G conversion. 1) Is there any certain OP rod that is better for modification than any other? I have to buy one, and I might as well get the proper one. Anything special to look for or avoid? I see some are, “cut and relieved”. 2) Does the end of a muzzle break count as the 16.1” barrel length? Id like to keep the OAL as short as possible. Thanks for your patience. Don

Make sure you have a good oprod tab and that it is USGI. From the receiver to the muzzle tip count as the length.

Well, I’m merrily collecting the various needed parts to flesh this rifle out. Have the trigger group and good op rod inbound. I have another question, would it be a sacrilege to grind off the bayonet and stacking swivel lug on the gas cylinder? I want to use a Schuster muzzle brake and would like to clean it up of unused things that may snag in the brush. This will be a hunting rifle. I think I’ll have a standard gas cylinder parkerized at the same time so that I can reconfigure it without the brake. Any suggestions or opinions on this build will be highly appreciated. I’m planning a second Mini-G in 35 Whelen, this first rifle will be my test bed to see what features work for me. Thanks
